LSL Wins ECOWAS Moot Court Competition
The Liberia School of Law (LSL) won the first-ever Economic Cooperation of West African States (ECOWAS) Moot Court competition, August 13 – 16 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
LSL students, Peace Khasu and Abigail Dorbor, represented LSL at the competition, which brought together law students from countries in West, Central, and East Africa. The students were accompanied by their very able coach, LSL Professor Gerald Yeakula.
LSLÂ won its initial match by forfeit, after Nigeria failed to show up. LSL then went against the Africa Nazarene University of Kenya, and that match was a tie, with both the Kenyan team and LSL scoring sufficient points to make the final. LSL appeared in the final together with the Felix Houphouet-Boigny University of Cote d’Ivoire as one team against the African Nazarene University of Kenya and the University of Bukavu of the Democratic Republic of Congo as the other team, with the Liberian/Ivorian Team declared the victors by a panel of judges after a spirited and competitive match. ECOWAS Moot Court named Peace Khasu the Second-Best Advocate of the competition.
Kwame Clement, President of the Liberia School of Law, on behalf of the Board of Directors, faculty, students, and staff, congratulates Peace, Abigail, and Professor Yeakula for an excellent job in representing LSL and Liberia.
